Drafting & Imaging Services

I am very experienced at drafting, converting and manipulating CAD & image files to make them cleaner and more efficient. I can even take a sketch on a napkin and turn it into a high quality Flash Vector file. Please take a look at my Before/After Samples.

CAD to Vector File Cleanup and Conversion

  • typically 1-2 hours per project, difficult CAD files may take more time
  • DWG or DXF format preferably (must be a format I can manipulate), I strip down the layers and create a vector file that is compatible with the software

Image File Cleanup

  • typically 1/2 to 1 hour per page, depending on the quality & level of cleaning
  • supply me with a digital image file (preferably a nice scan or PDF) and I'll do my best to clean out the garbage manually. I can cleanup as much or as little as you like, just let me know how far to go

Image File to Vector File Conversion

  • average conversion time is 1-2 hours per floor, but it depends on how much detail you want (I can include walls only if you like)
  • I take your image file and draw the floorplan over it using vector lines

Image Cropping and/or Page Splitting

  • it takes very little time to crop an image or split one into wings
  • if you have an image file you'd like to use, but no way to crop it, I can take care of it for you. Often a floorplan is too large for the page and needs to be split into separate pages. This is a part of the other services, but if you need something separate, it's a 1/2 hour minimum. (covers email, up/down & crop time)

Room Element Setup

  • I enter the room names into the Project Interface
  • then drop the names and areas onto the plan
  • this facilitates reporting by room and the names stay vertical

System Icon Layout

  • I can plot icons into your project for you
  • I can work from sketches, specs, proposals or even just a list of rooms-icons
  • I have much of experience and a great feel for both functional and aesthetic locations, so I can plot your preliminary layout, then you take it from there

Why Vector Files?

Vector files use exponentially less server space than image files while remaining crisp in high zoom and large prints.
