History

I started out in AV Systems Design in 1997. I built tools and techniques in Visio that improved my company's documentation while saving them money over their current supplier. Years of using these tools made me want to build better tools. I knew that I could take engineering to the internet, I just need to find the right platform to develop it. That platform was Flash. I built my software, then used the skills I learned to move into a new career.

Before my digital career, I was a landscape contractor. I loved the sense of accomplishment when a job was done, but the back-breaking work schedule was too much for me. I knew I need to find a job that worked around my schedule... a computer was the obvious choice. I took a chance, moved to Silicon Valley, found a niche and built a career.

I'm not a fan of cameras, so a photo of me is rare...

Personal

It wouldn't be my site if I didn't include some personal info.

I work mostly at night and sleep when I can. I live in the mountains and work exclusively from home. My career is working at home... not engineering or programming, but anything I can do from home. I do so to suit my sleep disorder, to breathe clean air and to have peace of mind. I could have pursued wealth, I instead chose freedom. It's an ongoing battle with distrust and old ideas... but there are some who understand that technology has given us virtually everything we need to be productive from anywhere. It takes discipline, courage and persiverance... got 'em all.

I'm a mountain man, Yosemite rat, hermit & traveller. I lived in two major cities, this is where I belong. Close to the slopes, nature and the people I love, it all makes the struggle more than worthwhile.
